He is a member of the Models for Success Leadership Team and still striving to be an example for other youth and young adults. When he last appeared on our site, he had just purchased his first investment property at the age of 20. One year later, he has since used his investment to purchase an $18,000.00 vehicle, cash (no car note), graduated from Delgado Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, enrolled in Louisiana Technical College for the electrical program, and still striving to make improvements. Below is a brief excerpt of our most recent conversation with him.

MfS: So how are things coming along?   MfS: What message would you want to get across to other youth and young adults?
NM: Well, I feel real fortunate to have found a house and gone through the whole process. There were a lot of unexpected things, such as the City Hall process and others that I was not aware of, however I made it through. The project is just coming to a close as my last tenant is about to move in. It took hard work, dedication, and staying focus to make sure everything went according to plan. I’m currently enrolled at LTC and plan to graduate next year and obtain my license as an electrician.   NM: Number one, you have to have a strong work ethic.  It’s going to take work.  Nothing comes free.  I definitely had to put in work, dedication, time, and planning.  It is also important to be able to adjust and make changes while still being able to maintain your    focus.  There are sometimes situations that require you to step out of your comfort zone. These challenges are all for your betterment.  The key is understanding that these things help us to learn. I hear a lot of people complaining. The thing we have to do is avoid making excuses and start making things happen.
